(National Association for Music Education) NAfME
Most companies and associations omit articles and prepositions from their acronym, but the National Association for Music Education wanted to avoid “NAME” which was already used. Incorporating the “f” into their acronym was a challenge. I used the musical notation for “forte” (strong) which music educators would instantly recognize. The forte “f” and italicized “for” were accentuated in the logo and wordmark.
The larger goal of the new corporate identity was to transition the association from MENC (Music Educators National Conference) to the more accurate and relevant NAfME (National Association for Music Education).
The clean lines and vivid colors of the logo allow for a variety of interesting and occasionally unexpected applications.
Exhibit for NAfME trade shows and annual meetings. 83” x 90”. I worked out the specifics of the art direction with NAfME personnel and it was illustrated by Pete Paspalovski. Photographed at NAfME headquarters in Reston.
