(American Chemical Society) ACS
For six years I worked with the American Chemical Society designing a variety of pieces, including annual reports. But the most notable projects were the annual catalogs. A collection of apparel, collectibles and general awareness items, I art directed the photo shoots, assisted with the copy and oversaw the printing in addition to design. The first year the catalog was released, sales increased 185%.
Striking backdrops were used to contrast and complement the apparel items. Some of the models we selected were so talented, we asked them back in succeeding years.
The typical catalog would be 28 pages including cover. We normally had 15 setups with the models but were budgeted only a day to shoot everything.
The ACS catalog would usually be mailed to the membership in March of the catalog calendar year. We’d follow up in October with Holiday advertising to promote sales of discontinued items.
